Electrospun Hyaluronic Acid/Gelatin Nanofibrous Mats for Wound Dressing

In this study, we successfully fabricated the nanofibrous mats of gelatin (GE) and hyaluronic acid (HA) using 2,2,2Trifluoroethanol (TFE)/-water (the volume ratio is 1 ∶ 1) as a solvent via electrospinning. The morphology of the electrospun nanofibrous mats was investigated by SEM. The average nanofibrous diameter increased with increasing blend ratio of HA to GE. Cell viability studies with fibroblast cells indicated that GE/HE blended nanofibrous mats promote cell growth, especially when the weight ratio of GE to HA was 6 ∶ 4. Our results suggest electrospun GE-HA nanofibrous scaffolds be potential candidates for wound dressing.
