Microstructure and Properties Analysis of Small Diameter ePTFE Arterial Prostheses
The objective of the study was to compare the different properties of small diameter graft samples based on the microstructure and in vitro mechanical properties analyzing. The present study was undertaken to analyze the properties of two commercial small diameter ePTFE arterial prosthesis from UK. Besides two different diameters domestic ePTFE prosthesis from another company also undertook all tests. Microstructure analyzing included the geometry and morphology of the ePTFE prostheses wall structure. In vitro testing consisted of measuring the physical and mechanical properties of the grafts, such as the water permeability, tensile strength and surface properties. Besides comparing the different properties of the four graft samples, tests were also included analyzing the relationship between structure and mechanical properties. The results provide a useful comparison between the imported and domestic prosthesis, and explain the relative mechanical performance of these different models of arterial prostheses.
