Camera Calibration Based on Extended Imaging Model
To improve accuracy and efficiency of computer visual inspection, a new camera calibration method is proposed. A mathematical model of camera imaging is set up based on the theory of perspective projection and vector algebra, which takes into account both the first order radial distortion and disinterring distortion, and actual image point is regarded as results of ideal image points affected by radial and tangential distortion in order. Based on this model, parameters of radial and tangential distortion are solved separately by optimization technique, in which the invariability in projection translation is used as quantity indicator in target function. Whole process for solving all parameters is divided into three separate stages, which avoids the error of overall method due to interference between all the parameters. Ordinary LCD screen is used as calibration templates in our experimentation, which is suitable for placing and adjusting, and special equipments are no longer needed. During whole calibration process, the camera and LCD screen is kept stationary. Our method is simply, quickly and complete automatically, simulative and real experiments show its validity and practicability.
