Design and Realization of Road Traffic Flow Detection System Using Video Technique
The road traffic flow is an important statistical data in the traffic control. The statistical data obtained by instruments can guide the management of road traffic, such as controlling the traffic lights, diverting the traffic jam and so on. The department of traffic control needs traffic flow data of some roads. By studying the related domestic and foreign technology, combined with the understanding and analysis of the hardware platform and algorithm of image processing, a system based on OMAP352S named road traffic flow detection system is introduced in the paper. The basic principle of hardware, and the algorithm of traffic flow detection system are described. The test results of the system and existing signal machine prove its advantage of stable credibility in the high identification. It is easily portable, cheap, and has the ability to get the information of road share, vehicle flow, vehicle speed, etc. successfully and immediately.
