Voltage Transducer Based on Electrostatic Film Vibration
A new type of voltage transducer, Film Vibration Voltage Transducer (FWT) invented by the author, is presented in this paper. The FWT is based on electric force to act on electrostatic film which is polarized with a DC power supply or charged by an electrostatic generator. The film is driven to vibrate by a voltage to be measured and the magnitude of vibration is a liner function of the voltage. A non-contact fiber sensor is employed to sense the vibration in which two group of fibers bundled together to transmit light to hit the film and capture reflection where light intensity is modulated. Meanwhile the high potential in the FWT is isolated completely by the fibers. The FWT has advantages of non-contact, high accuracy, no transient response delay and capable of both AC and DC measurement. A prototype has been built up for a purpose of principle verification at lOkV voltage level and 0.1% linearity achieved.
