Classification and Identification of Plastic Using Infrared Spectroscopy
The method for the discrimination of Plastics by infrared spectroscopy was researched in this paper. The corresponding spectrogram will be produced while the different functional groups of plastics are irradiated by the infrared light. The reason for distinguishing different kinds of plastics is different between the curve shape and peak position of spectrogram corresponding to the different components of plastic, so the processing algorithm based on the curve pertinence and the characteristic peaks position are advanced for processing data derived by the infrared spectrometer. It is concluded that the correlation algorithm and the characteristic peaks algorithm are good method to discriminate the different kinds of plastic.
