Mass Data Storage Strategy in Automatic Ultrasonic Array Testing
Mass data real-time collection, storage and transmission are often required in pipeline automatic ultrasonic array testing for flaw detection and evaluation. However, the amount of the data is so large for recording that it will limit the inspection speed and distance. For the purpose of solving this problem, the paper proposes a mass data storage strategy based on fractal algorithm, with which the fractal eigenvectors-the Hurst exponent and the fractal linearity of the received ultrasonic signals are extracted online. These two eigenvectors are sensitive to the reflected flaw signals and flawless signals. Based on the fact that most of the received ultrasonic signals are flawless and useless, we can cut down those flawless signals while retaining those few useful flaw signals to solve the mass data realtime storage problem. Experiments have been made to verify its effectiveness and stableness in laboratory. The implementation of the method shows its advantages of easy programming and less disturbing by noise. It proves that the research is greatly valuable for mass data storage in pipeline automatic ultrasonic array testing.
