Methodology to assess the energy consumption of cutting machine tools
This paper describes a method to assess the energy efficiency of cutting machine tools and their components with the focus on the calculation of the yearly energy consumption based on use profiles. For the purchase of specialized machines the energy consumption of specific use profiles for each component of the machine will be calculated by the machine tool manufacturer using the production profile of the customer. For the purchase of standardized machines a portfolio of production profiles will be provided to the effect that every customer can estimate the energy consumption of different machine tool configurations according to their specific production type. The methodology allows the assessment of machine tools during their purchasing as well as during their development phase.
