Energy Consumption Assessment and Optimisation in the Design and Use Phase of Machine Tools

Energy consumption is an important factor for the ecological impact and operation cost of modem machine tools.Assessment of the enemy consumption based on models and usage profiles and optimal selection of design alternatives,as well as enemy consumption optimising control, are promising approaches to unleash potential savings while maintaining opemtional flexibility. In our paper we present results from the project ECOMATION including energy consumption analysis based 0n the foreseen application of a machine.control strategies that lead directly to enemy savings, and control techniques and mechatronic and control co-design solutions that improve enemy efficiency indirectly.
