Eco-Innovation:Managing Eco-Product Design & Innovation
This paper firstly reviews the literature on ecoinnovation to identify the main dnvers and barriers faced by companies adopting eco innovative product and business strategies in order to change course towards sustainability and sustsinable development.The paper then descnbes a questionnaire to capture the views of product designers and business managers in a survey of British industry.The survey provides valuable information and lessons leamed for assessing the drivera and bardsis of eco-innovation and how ecoinnovation can be promoted,led and managed.The literature review examines the strategic advantages of eco product design and innovation and how they affect business bottom line.Secondly,the drivers,barrier and enablers of eco-innovation are analysed from the point view of introducing eco-innovative products and processes in industry.Thirdly,the paper examines the barriera to eco-innovation and proposes detailed guidelines and recommendations to overcome those barriera and manage the process.This paper finally examines the position as faced by the SMEs in the UK,towards sustainable development based on new eco-innovation products and green technologies of the future.
