Feature Analysis of Fog Concentration and Climatic Tendency of Jiangsu Province
For understanding the spatial and temporal distribution patterns and variations of fog in Jiangsu province, the fog concentration degree (FCD) and fog concentration period (FCP) of annual days of fog has een defined with 59 Jiangsu ground-based observation stations from 1961 to 2007. Results demonstrate that FCD shows the lower value in coastal areas than in inland;and higher values in the north and the south than in the middle of Jiangsu province. FCP shows the significant fluctuation during the 47 years. With the Empirical Orthogonal Function (EOF) method, the first eigenvector of the anomalies of days of fog, the FCD and FCP are in phase respectively. The corresponding time coefficients of days of fog appear higher values in 1980s than in other period, and the corresponding time coefficients of both the FCD and FCP were decreasing before 1980 and then increasing subsequently.
