Despeckling of High Resolution SAR Image Based on Enhanced GIW Algorithm
In high resolution SAR images, system immanence speckle noise becomes more remarkable, forming a bottleneck of the SAR application fields. In this paper, an enhanced gradient inverse weighted despeckling algorithm (EGIW) will be presented. According to the local statistical properties of the image, an statistical enhanced fdter strategy will be made: for the regions with full developed speckle noise, a modified GIW filter will be applied, benefiting from the gray smoothness on homogeneous regions and discontinuities between neighboring regions, and as for the uniform regions, a simple mean filter will be used, as well as the gray retaining for the expand target region with high reflection properties. The experiment results with objective measurements indicated that the proposed method can efficiently despeckle the high resolution SAR images, thus, outperforms the common-used methods, such as the mean fdter, the GammaMAP filter, the wavelet based method and the GIW algorithm.
