Image Segmentation Using Entropy and Uniformity Measure

A threshold segmentation algorithm based on Renyi’s entropy is presented. A new formula of the optimal threshold value with a simple expression form is gained. Renyi’s entropy has an adjustable parameter, which makes the processing results have uncertainty. Making use of the uniform measure and the maximum distance between classes, the optimal threshold value is defined. After the selection of the optimal threshold values, images with three peaks are well segmented.
