This paper examines the employment effect in Knowledge-Intensive Business Services (KIBS) in China. KIBS represent an important element of the so-called knowledge economy and have been amongst the fastes t growing employment sectors in advanced economies in recent years. However, the evidence presented in the paper suggests that its not enough to study only its own absorption ability, i.e. the direct employment effects in KIBS. The total employment effect in KIBS is more important to evaluate accurately and objectively.
