What Advantages Does Pneumatic Have as a Method of Automation?

For considerable time now, pneumatics has exhibited higher related annual growth rates than hydraulics. This paper shall investigate the causes of this trend. In comparing the economic benefits of different drive technologies, one must consider the costs of initial capital, energy consumption and maintenance. To asses pneumatics first we have to start with the characteristics of the pressure medium air. Compressed air does not age and therefore can be let off without problems into the atmosphere. Thus return lines are not necessary. To realize some functions there exsist special features of the air. Examples are : the ejector principle to generate vacuum pressure, the supply and drain flow control to influence the starting and speed characterics and the simple generation offerees by limiting pressure. Components with the chosen integrated characteristics can be combined into complete systems, with assembly being facilitated through such constructive elements as grooves or mounting bores. In this manner, the user himself can build up multi-axial systems actuated by robotic control systems . This ability to construct custom system solutions adapted to a variety of automation tasks must be regarded as main reasons why electropneumatics still continues to gain in growing application.
