Comparing controllers in water hydraulic cylinder motion control

Variable natural frequency and low damping are the characteristic features of the water hydraulic cylinder drives. A change in the reference signal disturbs a servo system heavily. This disturbance can be reduced by smoothing the reference signal in different ways. When good dynamic behavior, accurate positioning, small tracking error, and accurate stroke time are important in a water hydraulic cylinder drive, a motion control system is a suitable solution. The performances of the different controller schemas as well as different profile generators are studied experimentally. The design principles of the controllers discussed. Measured results are shown and evaluated.
