Investigations of flow rate ripple and pressure pulsation of radial piston pump
The objective of this research is to investigate the controlled volume and the flow rate ripple and pressure pulsation of the radial piston pump. Sound emission is the weak point of the hydrostatic power transmission. It is recognized that the sudden pressure change in controlled piston volume leads to change of output pressure which produces a blasting sound. The pressure change is caused by the sudden change of the fluid volume in piston chamber. To alleviate the noise emission, the piston chamber should be investigated. During the operate processing, there are two main reasons which lead to the flow rate ripple and pressure pulsation. Firstly, there are relief slots and index angle in the valve plate. Leakage exists in the clearance between the friction pairs. Another factor is that the liquid is compressible. That is the reason why flow ripples and pressure pulsation produced in the place of discharge and suction ports especially in the place of high pressure. This paper describes how the pistons displacement influences the change ratio of the controlled volume, the flow and the pressure within it. Displacement, velocity, and acceleration of the piston are studied. The instantaneous fluid pressure within the controlled piston chamber is investigated. The instantaneous pressure is influenced by the flow form or to the controlled chamber. Besides the piston kinematical volume change, the volumetric volume causing by the leakage happened in the clearance of the friction pairs is considered.
