The effect of pressure distribution on high speed cavitation flow inside throttling valve
The effects of pressure distributions and valve notch configuration on the characteristic of cavitation appearance and noise have been investigated. Twolevel pressure resistance model is set up through numerical analysis of the pressure distribution inside throttling groove to predict the cavitation noise. The accuracy of the predicted flow fields is evaluated by comparison to measurement results taken with a high-speed camera and spectrum analyzer. Results show that pressure distribution inside the throttling groove is sensitive to the valve channel configuration. The inception of bubbles shift from the right outlet corner to the left inlet corner of the groove and bubbles saturate the flow with the increase of groove depth, which is consistent with the variation of pressure distribution calculated from the pressure resistance model.
