Position control of a pneumatic rodless cylinder using full-digital nonlinear coding scheme
In this paper, a novel full-digital proportional pneumatic positioning system using nonlinear coding scheme is developed and realized. Firstly, the conventional PNM coding system together with two sets of proportional digital flow control unit (DFCU) is implemented. The DFCU consists of several parallelconnected 2/2 pneumatic on-off valves and serves as the key linear control element in the positioning system. The minor fault of the DFCU, however, is the large number of utilized 2/2 on-off valves. Secondly, based on the experimental results by PNM coding system, a nonlinear simplified coding scheme is presented, which utilizes much fewer 2/2 pneumatic on-off valves. Finally, experimental results show that the developed DFCU and the position control of a pneumatic rodless cylinder using the PNM as well as the proposed nonlinear coding scheme are successful and satisfactory.
