Research on hysteresis characteristics of an automotive air spring
Hysteresis phenomenon of an automotive air spring in a displacement-force cycle is researched in this paper. The experimental results show that the air spring hysteresis becomes more serious as excitation frequency decreases. It is analysed that hysteresis is induced by material damping of rubber bellow and heat exchange with outside. By introducing equivalent damping, it is presented in the paper that the air spring can be considered as the parallel connection of a pneumatic cylinder capable of heat exchange and an equivalent viscous damper. And then the mathematical model of the air spring is constructed based on energy conservation. Simulation results accord with experiment, which shows the equivalent model of the air spring is feasible.
