Dynamic characteristics of a microfluidic control system based on valve-less piezoelectric micro-pumps

In this paper, a microfluidic control system based on valve-less piezoelectric micro-pumps is designed to control the volume of the fluid in a device. The mathematical model of the system is given. By using Matlab/ Simulink method, the dynamic process of the system is simulated and its characteristics using double micro-pumps are compared with that using single micro-pump. The simulation result shows that microfluidic systems using double micro-pumps can supply much more flow rate with much lower flow pulse, and this microfluidic system can effectively control the volume of fluid. Suggestions on the optimizing design of the microfluidic control system are given based on the results of the dynamic analysis.
