PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF THE SMITH’S PRINCIPLE BASED CONGESTION CONTROL SYSTEM IN ATM NETWORKS

This paper studies the Smith’s principle based congestion control system in ATM networks proposed in the previous literature. Under the assumption that the capacity of the available bandwidth of the considered flow at the congestion node can be described by a piece-wise step function, it is shown in the literature that the pro posed controller guarantees the properties of the stability of network queues and the full utilization of link. Un der a much weaker assumption that the capacity is bounded, this paper shows that these two properties are still valid with much simpler proofs. The numerical simulation is provided to validate the proposed theoretical re sults of this paper.
