RESEARCH ON NATURAL FREQUENCY AND RESONANCE IN SUPPLY CHAIN ORDERING SYSTEM

Most recent research on supply chain volatility has focused on one particular dimension of that volatility, namely the amplification of upstream order variability. While not ignoring this aspect of supply chain volatility, this paper focuses on a different but equally critical aspect of volatility: the match between ordering system property and demand information. The concept of supply chain natural frequency and resonance phenomena is proposed based on frequency analysis method. A general framework with a common ordering policy APIOBPCS is established to reveal the influence of natural frequency and amplitude frequency curve as ordering system pa rameters are changed. Furthermore, the methods to avoid ordering system resonance and to reduce the magni tude of demand fluctuation are proposed, and then verified through numerical simulation.
