MODELLING THE CROWDING EFFECTS OF TRANSIT SYSTEM ON COMMUTERS DEPARTURE TIME CHOICE BEHAVIORS

This paper studies the departure time choice behaviors of commuters in transit system with crowding effects during peak periods. The congestion measure is reformed as the inconvenience of sharing space with others in the train. An equivalent optimization model is formulated, in which the model parameters are calibra ted with the collected survey data in the Beijing light railway. It is found that linear relationship is existed be tween the schedule delay time and the number of passengers in-vehicle. Mter comparing the parameters of ear ly arrival and late arrival, it is also found that the unit cost for early arrival is basically the same with that for late arrival in Beijing.
