A STUDY ON CONSTRUCTION OF KNOWLEDGE DATABASE FOR TRADITION OF SPECIAL WELDING SKILL
The manufacture that has the aging problem of expert engineers demands the knowledge database for sup porting the skill tradition to train the young engineer. In this study, knowledge of the expert engineer is ac quired and represented as the panel-card model to the skill tradition on the special welding that is one of the craft in Kure city. The construction of the knowledge database with the panel-card model is as follows. Expert engineer’s operation is recorded as the skill-viewer with 4 CCD cameras in order to represent the tacit knowl edge. The operating process is analyzed to classify into three classes that are the unit operation, the element operation and the unit motion. The knowhow of each operating process are acquired by interviewing from the expert engineer. The knowledge database is represented by the database software that is the FileMaker. The cards were classified in the unit operation database, the element operation database, the knowhow database, the scientific basis database and the skill-viewer database as a result of constructing the knowledge database with the panel-card model. The numbers of the card were 4 pieces in the unit operation database, 10 pieces in the element operation database, 39 pieces in the knowhow database, 39 pieces in the scientific basis database, and 3 pieces in the skill-viewer database.
