OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE RELIABILITY ANALYSIS AND OPTIMAL BUG FIX RELEASE PROBLEM BASED ON DETERMINISTIC CHAOS THEORY
We focus on the quality problems of open source software developed under open source project. Consider ing from a point of view of software reliability growth modeling, it is difficult to cover the software fault-repor ting phenomena on the bug tracking system of open source software. We propose a new approach to software re liability assessment based on a deterministic chaos theory. Also, we analyze actual software fault count data to show numerical examples of software reliability assessment based on the proposed method. Moreover, we com pare the goodness-of-fit of the propose.d method based on the chaos theory with the conventional software relia bility growth models for open source software. Furthermore, we discuss the optimal bug fix release problem.
