OPTIMAL SOFTWARE RELEASE PROBLEM WITH USER INSTLLATIONS
In this paper, we discuss optimal software release problems with user installations. Most of the optimal software release problems assume that the released software is operated by one user, however we assume that it is dealt with many users. Then, we focus on the differences among the fault-detection rates of the users in the operational phase. Thus, we introduce the concept of the severity factor so as to consider the user faultdetec tion environment. Then, we formulate maintenance cost models based on a software reliability growth model and analyze several optimal release policies minimizing the costs. Further, numerical examples based on the derived optimal release policies are presented.
