Haiers Tao of Innovation--A Case Study of the Emerging Total Innovation Management (TIM)

In the new competitive economic circumstances, the achievement of better performance through the innovation management concepts & management instruments and the realization of external development based on core, competence are the top targets of companies all over the world. After describing and analyzing the innovation dilemma, this paper summarizes the developing path and map of technology innovation management. Through in-depth investigations and analyses of the Haier case, a new paradigm of innovation management-Total Innovation Management (TIM) was put forward for the first time by the Research Center for Innovation and Development (RCID) of Zhejiang University. The TIM framework and the elements innovation and their synergic relationship in the companys innovation management were discussed: the direction and routines for the technology innovation management. Haiers way to innovation and its TIM theory as well as its management instruments are the best way to shorten the gap between Chinese companies and foreign pioneering.
