Entry Strategy of Whirlpool Corporation in India: A System Dynamics Approach
Global Strategy plays a vital role in determining the performance of business in global market. The success or failure of a business in 21st century will depend on whether it can compete effectively in world markets. This creates complex problems. Two approaches exist to tackle these problems: -Traditional management approach and conventional management sciences. System Dynamics is a methodology that judiciously combines the traditional management with cybernetics and computer simulation so as to carry out sound policy analysis.The home appliance industry is, in a way, representative of this dynamic phenomenon. All the major global players entered the emerging markets of Asia and Latin America in the 90s as their global Strategy. The paper discusses the various aspects of global strategies in the emerging home appliance industry and the application of the Dynamic Response Model in Whirlpools entry strategy. Whirlpool Corporations entry into the Indian home appliance market and its integration project is a study of dynamic behavior of various initiatives in key functions of the organization.Despite the slow down in economy, by adapting appropriate technologies and innovative strategy, the company has now gone into a profit-making mode after several years of losses. It has now taken up a leadership role in the appliance industry in India.
