Management of Emerging Technologies as an Integrating Process - Technology Roadmapping Approach
Identifying emerging technologies, participating in the across-organizational learning process, and getting familiar with emerging technologies and markets are essential for gaining and sustaining competitive advantages for technology-based companies. How to effectively integrate the management of emerging technologies into existing innovation system of a firm is perhaps the toughest issue for most companies 25. In this paper, having reviewed several innovation models, we introduce roadmapping technique that evolves from technology forecasting, to technology planning to technology management over times. Theroadmapping technique can serve as an integrating process for total technology management ranged from emerging technology to varied process technologies for improving firms competitive capabilities.
