A Study on Factors of Motivating Technical Experts to Transfer to Management Position

Most of supervisors in high-tech firms hold strong knowledge background of natural science and engineering technology and they mainly transferred from technical position. In a survey regarding managers of high-tech firms in Beijing Zhongguancun Science Park by designing and using the method of Rotation Recycling Questionnaire Survey, researchers have found the factors that motivate technical experts to transfer to management position can sum up as follows: to improve personal earning; to stand out, obtain achievement and receive recognition from superiors; to support national high-tech industry, to assume more responsibility and to achieve leadership power and authority, for worrying about special knowledge being outdated, and other casual factors.
