Technology Transfer, Cooperative Network and Evolution of Firms Capabilities
The acquisition of technological capability by a firm through technology transfer is not only a technological but also an organisational evolutionary process. During this process, the existing technological, managerial and other complementary resources are restructured, and the assimilation and application of new technology is embedded as a learning process. The analysis will adopt the framework of both resource-based and evolutionary theories of the firm and focus on the evolutionary process of technological and organisational resources towards organisational capabilities. It will be argued that for the firms in developing countries the acquisition of technological capability through technology transfer crucially depend on the formulation of organizational capabilities throughout cooperative network.
