Measuring and Monitoring the Impact of Adoption of the New Technology- Using Objectives Matrix (OMAX) Model
For many firms, one alternative to improve their performance (productivity) seems to be adoption of the new technology. From managements perspective, technology is a key resource of profound importance for company profitability and growth so that some company leader and manager believe that a more powerful way to bolster competitive advantage is through changes in manufacturing structure and technology. Nevertheless, there are some experience show that the adoption of new technology can not have a positive or optimal impact on competitiveness or can not meet the business goal. This paper will show how a company can measure and monitor the optimal impact after it has implemented new technology using the Objectives Matrix (OMAX) model. Without the measuring and monitoring process for the implementation of technology, the economic benefit of the adoption of the new technology can not be maintained. At last, this paper also present a hypothetical example and step by step OMAX aplication with use the six dimensions of competition (for its criteria) : Quality, Cost, Dependability, Service, Timelines, and Flexibility.
