Joint Timing Synchronization Algorithm for OQPSK Real-time Multi-domain Measurement

Based on real-time multi-domain signal analysis architecture for wideband Offset Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (OQPSK) communication, a novel high-precision joint timing synchronization algorithm for OQPSK real-time multi-domain analysis and specifications measurement is presented. The proposed two-step algorithm first adjusts the sample rate of input measured OQPSK signal to integer multiple of the symbol rate by the arbitrary ratio resampling algorithm based on polyphase filtering. Then, the feedforward joint phase and timing estimation algorithm for OQPSK, which is derived using maximum-likelihood (ML) arguments, is applied to remove the carrier phase offset and timing error simultaneously. Compared to the conventional Lagrange interpolator, the proposed algorithm has better out-of-band spectrum suppression performance. The simulation is made to prove the flexibility and high efficiency of the proposed algorithm.
