Impulse Sensitivity Function-Based Linear Time-Varying Analysis of Noise in an Active Mixer
Modeled as a linear time-varying (LTV) system, a single-balanced active mixer’s noise characteristics is analyzed systematically. Impulse sensitivity function (ISF) is introduced to indicate the linear time-varying nature and also elucidates the noise transformation mechanism of active mixers. Explicit expressions of ISF’s and noise figure are presented, which can be used to predict noise performance of active mixers and offer optimization suggestions for the circuit.
