Survey on Mental Health of Freshmen in Science and Engineering Colleges in 2006-2009
To analyze the psychological census data of 5849 freshmen from 4 representative departments in Henan Polytechnic University in recent four years with SCL-90. The survey shows: (1) the majority of students have good psychological quality, but also there are more than 12￡￥ of the students that have psychological problems, such as obsessive-compulsive symptoms, interpersonal sensitivity, depression and paranoia. (2)The mental health of students in Grade2008 and 2009 is better than that in Grade 2006 and 2007. (3)There are certain differences in students mental health between different faculties, and mental health of engineering students is better than that of sciences and arts students. Therefore, mental health education should be targeted for the major issues in order to achieve better results.
