A GIS-based Production Management System for General Cargo Terminal and Realization of Visualization
General cargo terminals imposes higher requirements for visualization of production management than container terminals because of unfixed layout of cargo spaces, irregular shapes and frequent dynamic alteration. This paper, starting with production management system of General cargo terminals, describes the process from production plan, spot dispatch and process followingup control, summarizes the modules requiring visualization including dynamic map modification module, spot planning module and stacking yard monitoring modules, etc. and analyzes information relation between visualization modules and M1S system to finally realize visualization of the modules by using GIS built-in development technology and GPS and put them into use in Tianjin Port Generalcargo system. Practice shows that visualization expands the functions of the traditional MIS system and help enterprises with better production management.
