A Study on the Mobility Level of Public Transit Based on the Transport Energy Consumption
This paper for the first time explains the level of mobility using Cobb-Douglas utility function model, and then the mobility level of public transit in Suzhou old area has been investigated and analyzed. Computing each trip modes passenger turnover from the point of transport energy consumption minimum, provides the quantitative criterias to assess the sustainability of traffic industry, and also provides for the related government departments the policymaking basis on which the public transits planning and construction work will be carried on. Analysis results indicate that in order to keep or increase the current mobility level of public transit in Suzhou old area, but the transport energy consumption being minimum, must change the current trip modes structure, and the specific way is to reduce the bus using scale suitably and expand the taxs using scale.
