The High Accuracy Simulation of Resistivity LWD Electric Field using Self-Adaptive hp-FEM
Nowadays, the worldwide petroleum industry has significantly progressed, resistivity LWD has become the key technique of complex oil reservoir development and been used widely. The accurate simulation of electric field plays an important part in the LWD instrument measurement data analysis and explains. It also has considerable merit in the design of high-efficient, cost-effective resistivity LWD instruments. The simulation of electric field performed with a self-adaptive hp-finite element method which inherits the advantage of FEM and essential to solve problem which has complex geometry and boundary conditions. This method delivers exponential convergence rates. Automatic adaptive allows for accurate approximations of the quantity of interest without the need to obtain an accurate solution in the entire computational domain. This method becomes essential to simulate LWD measurements; since it reduces the computational cost by several orders of magnitude with respect to hp-FEM. Numerical results illustrate the efficiency and high accuracy of the method.
