An Empirical Study on Characteristics and Evaluation of the Spa Consumer Market in Beijing

Spa leisure consumption has gradually flourished in recent years. With unique market advantages and resources, a certain scale of spa industry has been developed in Beijing. However, there still exist some problems in the industry. This paper, based on the local market needs and evaluation, made an empirical study on the characteristics of needs and satisfaction in the spa consumer market in Beijing. The results showed that about half of the local residents in Beijing go to spa once or twice a year with the motivation for relaxation and enjoyment. The study also found that there were three major sub-markets in this consumption group: personal/family consumption, administrative consumption and girl consumption. According to the study, the consumers are the most satisfied with the recreational effects and the least satisfied with the price. The results of this study can be of some reference for the sustainable development of spa tourism industry in Beijing.
