SWOT Analysis of Chinese Petroleum Corporations Investment in Africa
Competitivity is increasing in the promising soil of Africa. Whilst former western firms tend to turn to other regions, those from Asia in contrast see a great opportunity to make business. Chinese firms in this line distinguish themselves especially those of petroleum, since the going global policy, by transforming the continent to a new and unexplored market. Identified often as late comers, they are under the gaze of international attention for their blooming economy growth and FDI growth in Africa. Also considered as new colonizers, the Chinese firms are welcomed by African countries. In this paper, we proceed through a SWOT analysis approach by examining their business strategy in Africa. As such we attempt to find their:(1) potential strengths (2) weaknesses;(3) opportunities;(4) threats.
