3D Registration for PET/CT Images Using Genetic Algorithm
In this paper, we proposed to find optimized image registration algorithm of PET/CT images by using Genetic Algorithms (GAs). The image registrations objective is the definition of a mapping that best matches two set of points or images, in this work the point matching problem was addressed employing a method based on nearest-neighbor. The mapping was handled by afflne transformations. Experiments were conducted using 3D synthetic point-sets with different affine transformations and noise. The results were compared against other optimization techniques and shown that applied Genetic Algorithms in PET/CT images registration method can produce more accurate PET/CT images registration than other in the past.
