Information in Techniques
Interuet Services and the Semantic Internet, emerging technologies based on the lnternet, possess the potential to alleviate these problems by transforming the World-Wide Web from a large collection of information into an intelligent distributed computational device. This paper presents an overview of the Internet technologies and the Semantic Internet and proposes two framework for their joint application in the field of computational mechanics. The using of Internet Services and the system architecture on which they interact are discussed. Ontology, the fundamental concept of the Semantic Interuet, is introduced, and a detailed description of the proposed framework for computational mechanics is given. Internet based Interactive Construction Management Learning System is being developed as part of a three-year project that has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and Arizona State University (ASU). The primary focus of the project is to enhance the undergraduate construction engineering and management education. And Internet Services is a modern paradigm of distributed computing that uses the Internet as the communication medium. Its fundamental concept is to build computer software by making use of remote procedure calls (RPC) over the lnternet or an Intranet.
