Learning Orientation, Knowledge Creation and Performance in Born Global Firm: An Empirical Research in Yangtze River Delta
Born Global Firm (BGF) is a business organization that, from inception, seeks to derive significant competitive advantage from the use of resources from and the sale of outputs to multiple countries. This study combines learning orientation and knowledge creation to develop a general model of BGFs performance. The paper analyzes this model using a structure equation model approach, with 86 BGFs in Yangtze River Delta in China selected as the samples of this study. The results indicate that learning orientation positively affects knowledge creation, and knowledge creation has significant effect on BGFs performance, but learning orientation does not have direct impact on BGFs performance.Furthermore, our results provide evidence that knowledge creation plays a mediating role between learning orientation and BGFs performance. The results suggest that significant benefits can be achieved for BGFs performance by fostering knowledge creation.
