Personality and Job Performance of Middle-level Managers
It is a critical problem that how to choose middlelevel managers in the practice of human resource management. Managerial performance is not only the in-role behaviors, but also the extra-role behaviors which are benefit for the organization. Study Ⅰ we explore the methods of interview, re-translation and classification to construct the performance model of the middle-level managers and test it by confirmatory factor analysis. Results consistently support the three-factor typologies of job performance of middle-level managers, which are task performance, individual performance and interpersonal performance. Study Ⅱ we apply the method of regression analysis to test the relationship between personality and performance. Results show that experience affects the three aspects of performance; neuroticism affects the task performance and consciousness affects the individual performance and interpersonal performance.
