Study on Training Mechanism of Academic Leaders in Universities Based on Competency Model

Academic leader plays a core role in the construction of subjects. Owing to the relative lag of theoretical study, there are many problems in the practice of selection criterion of academic leaders in universities currently. This paper constructs a three-dimensional model of competency by means of systematic approach and analyzes the characters of threshold, differentiating and transformational competencies of academic leaders. Then it advances the methods of identifying, selecting and testing academic leaders. It points out that explicit and implicit competencies, abilities and attitudes should be combined in the selection of academic leaders. In addition, testing contents should be diversified but emphases should be different.
