Effect Analysis on Human Capital Spatial Concentration towards Regional Economic Growth - Case Study from Shandong Province
Spatial concentration of human capital is a remarkable characteristic in regional economy of different regions and countries in the world after the world war Ⅱ. This paper considers that the spatial concentration of human capital not only increases input-output efficiency of human capital itself, but also has a very important theoretical and practical significance to extend value chain, enhance the effectiveness of industrial cluster, optimize the regional economic structure and promote regional economic growth. This paper has calculated the spatial concentration degree of human capital and found that there is a strictly positive relationship between the regional economic growth and the spatial concentration degree of human capital by applying a Pearson correlation analysis (SPSSll.5). Then based on the model of human capital externalities, this paper has applied an econometric analysis (Eviews5.0) to the effect of spatial concentration of human capital on the economic growth of Shandong province. It has concluded that during the economic growth in Shandong Province human capital has obvious externality and higher output elasticity, with the continuous accumulation and concentration of and the promotion of policy level, contribution of human capital to regional economic growth rate has gradually increased since more than 20 years of reform and opening up. However, at present, Physical capital still plays a leading role to regional economic growth. Therefore, the paper finally puts up some relevant recommendations to optimize the spatial structure of human capital, to promote a reasonable concentration of and strengthen of the role of human capital concentration to support the regional economic development.
