Experimental Study on Anchorage Mechanisms in Jointed Rock Mass in Uniaxial Tension
Rock bolting is the most effective means of supporting in civil and mining engineering. But the design of the rock bolts, especially in jointed rock mass, which depends on the understanding of the anchorage of the rock bolt is still left to the practical experience. The anchorage mechanisms of rock bolts in jointed rock mass have been studied in pullout tests, shear tests and compressive tests, but those in tensile tests are less studied. So anchorage action and crack growth arrest mechanisms under tensile condition are studied with uniaxial adhesive tensile tests. Firstly a new rock-like material-rubber powder modified cement mortar material is made and glass fiber reinforce plastic was selected to simulate sandstone and rock bolts respectively according to the similarity principle. Half-through surface crack is formed by placing polyester thin plate and glass fiber reinforce plastic with different position is set up in the specimen while making the specimens in order to study anchorage mechanisms of rock bolts. The experiment results show that the rock bolts can improve the mechanical properties such as uniaxial tensile strength, elastic modulus etc. of the specimens reinforced with rock bolts under uniaxial tensile conditions. And crack initiation strength of the specimens reinforced with rock bolts is higher than that without rock bolts. The results also support that the rock bolts can change or arrest the crack growth, which there exist a stable crack growth process.
