Bicycle Traffic Organization and Treatment at Signalized Intersection
Collisions between bicycles and motor vehicles have caused severe life and property losses in our country. The majority of bicycle-motor vehicle accidents occur at intersections. In order to reduce the number of bicycle-motor vehicle accidents at intersections, a substantial understanding of the causal factors for the collisions is required, In this study, On the basis of analyzing bicyclists psychological activities and bicycles operational characteristics, the influence of bicyclists was put forward, afterwards, a variety of treatment are discussed in order to identify their functions and actual effects in protecting bicyclists, the treatment measures include bicycle restriction areas, left-turning bicycle priority waiting area, advanced stop line, integrated with pedestrian and signal treatment etc.
