The Research of Smart Antenna Technique for McWiLL Broadband Wireless Communication System

Recently, the smart antenna has become a very promising technique for wireless communication, which could enhance the system capacity. The smart antenna technique plays important roles in improving the frequency spectrum utilization efficiency, eliminating the multi-access interference and increasing the system capacity. The principle of smart antenna, the adaptive processing algorithms and the adaptive beam-forming algorithms are analysed in this article. The performances of the smart antenna and the traditional antnna in McWiLL system are compared. The advantages of the smart antenna in the performance, the power consumption and the cost are discussed. The smart antenna plays important roles in improving the covering range, restraining the interference and increasing the system capacity.
